Top Cowboys To Watch This Season

As we approach a new season for the Dallas Cowboys, here is the top players all Cowboys fans should look out for.... (If they make the 53 man roster). This Saturday's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first preseason game, should give you a glimpse of all these players and how they will look for the 2023-24 Dallas Cowboys.

  1. Brandin Cooks

The 29 year old receiver should be the obvious pick for the top spot as the Dallas Cowboys made an aggressive move to sure up the wide receiver position. Cooks will most likely come into the Cowboys high powered offense as the #1 or #2 (close #2) receiver right behind Ceedee Lamb. Cowboys fans should be happy with Cooks level of production as he has had 6, 1000 yard receiving years, in his 9 year career. Compared to former Dallas Cowboy, Amari Cooper, Cooks should be utilized better in the Mike McCarthy offense due to his speed and deep ball ability. If Cooks can have 2, 1000 yard receiving years with the Houston Texans, anything is possible in Arlington.

2. DeMarvion Overshown

Overshown, who is my pick to be the top rookie for the Dallas Cowboys, is a 6'2, 220 pound converted safety who should see a lot of time next to Leighton Vander Esch as the 2nd middle linebacker in certain defensive packages. In his final year as a Longhorn, Overshown recorded 96 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. With the Cowboys suffering a major injury with Donovan Wilson going down in training camp, look for Overshown to step and fill his role as one of the better open field tacklers on the team.

3. Deuce Vaughn

Vaughn, who has smilingly become one of the standouts for the Cowboys in this years training camp, has become a quick fan favorite and could potentially see the field for the Cowboys in the new look offense. The 5'5, 180 pound running back is considered to be a bowling ball and the Dallas Cowboys new 3rd back, with the departure of Ezekiel Elliot. If KaVontae Turpin isn't able to find a role in this years offense look for Vaughn to be in a lot of screen, 5 wide, and quick pass packages for the Dallas Cowboys.

4. Daron Bland

Daron Bland was a player who came on the scene around week 12 against the Colts, as he was able to have 4 interceptions in the last 6 weeks of the season with 2 coming against the Colts. Bland alongside Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore have the potential to be one of the best corner back trio's in the NFL. Bland is also a good tackler as he recorded 38 tackles in the regular season (in limited time), as well as adding another 18 tackles in the postseason. Bland was the standout rookie last year, and hopefully he can take a major leap in his sophomore season as he should see the field a lot more, as Anthony Brown is no longer on the team and Jourdan Lewis is still on IR for the Dallas Cowboys.
